Standard Industries supply and install the Apricus Solar Hot water heater that is a split system using the technology of Evacuated Tubes. Evacuated Tubes have a higher heating efficiency than conventional flat panel solar hot water heaters and are rated to be frost resistant to -30º C. The tubes are rated to with stand up to 25mm hail.
Advantages of the Apricus systems are:
Evacuated Tubes work in all seasons and are more efficient in extreme temperatures.
The Apricus system is a split system removing the unsightliness of large tanks mounted on the roof.
An Apricus solar collector is not solely dependent on direct sunlight, and works in all weather conditions where there is direct or diffused sunlight.
As hot water temperature demand increases Evacuated tube outperforms flat panel.
Flat panel has convection, conduction & radiation losses – evacuated tube has only minimal radiation loss and almost zero convective heat loss, resulting in superior performance in cold weather and also at higher output temperatures.
The selective absorption layer transforms solar energy into heat energy, vacuum space can be considered as a one-way valve to protect the heat energy from escaping. The aspiratory layer can absorb the air which filters from the atmosphere into the vacuum tube.
